Promise - Commitments
Commitment to add value
When I was a kid my dad often told this story on consultants:
A group of people was out in an air balloon, unfortunately they lost their way. Luckily, they saw a person on ground and asked:
"Where are we?"
The person pointed to the air balloon and replied:
" You are there!"
The captain in the air balloon said:
"That person is a consultant!... Because:
- Everybody could have told us this!
- We all ready knew this ourselves!
- The information was useless!"
Commitment to contribute with what you really need
This is another story from my childhood:
Three companies met:
- First company was blind
- Second company was deaf
- Last company could not walk
They had heard about a wizard that could fulfil their biggest wish!
One at the time they went into the wizard:
- First company came out, all happy, and with the ability to see.
- Second company came out, also happy, and with the ability to hear.
- Last company wheeled itself into the wizard, stayed there for long and finally wheeled(!) itself out again, all happy that it has got new tires!
My commitment is to ensure we ask for the right things, the big ticket items that will really get us there. Maybe we will need to change tires to get there as we don't have a wizard, but only if it eventually will get us walking - and even running.
